Sonic is seeking a Director of Enterprise Architecture and Infrastructure to join our team and be responsible for overseeing both Enterprise Architecture and Technical Infrastructure practices within Sonic Brand Technology. In overseeing Enterprise Architecture, the Director proactively plans and collaborates with other technology and business leaders to ensure the EA evolution road-maps enable the Sonic business plan. This role is also responsible for defining the EA policy, procedure and architecture review processes while effectively integrating those processes with related business and IT planning and governance processes. The Director manages and develops a team of Enterprise Architects with a focus on process improvement and flow of business value. Progress over perfection is a guiding principle. In overseeing Technical Infrastructure, the Director will ensure acceptable quality and responsive services through management and delivery of preventative maintenance, assessment, and proactive monitoring. The Director will ensure adherence to best practices and proven methodologies to promote continuous information operations and the integration of new value-added technical services. The Director is responsible for mission critical services requiring stability, reliability, and performance optimization. The Director will manage all network operations and will have management oversight of senior and mid-level technical resources. Areas of accountability include evolution and operation of data center, LAN/WAN, server and network hardware, and related applications. The successful candidate will provide leadership for teams and as a senior technologist. Essential Functions: • Maintenance and support of data center operations, LAN/WAN architecture, server and network hardware, software, and applications. • Provides technical expertise and guidance, networking and operating system expertise, project management, and serve as an escalation resource for all technical needs • Monitor, assess, and report on network and server bandwidth and resource utilization • Approve, coordinate, and execute upon adjustments and changes that increase performance and availability • Provide ongoing review of capacity requirements in order to align with budget planning • Conduct regular status reviews with Sonic IT management and vendors to ensure successful implementation and timely resolution of service issues. • Ensure up-to-date system and network documentation • Manage all related vendor support contracts for hardware, software, connectivity, etc. • When necessary, work in concert with software and hardware vendors for problem resolution • Ensure integrity and availability of data through continuous assessment of data backup operations • Provide advance notification of all planned system and network outages and set realistic expectations on availability. • Coordinate and communicate closely with management and help desk during all unplanned outages • Lead the creation or evolution of the enterprise architecture function/program. • Understand, advocate and support the enterprise's business and IT strategies. • Promote business benefits and impact of the EA practice • Lead and facilitate the creation of governing principles to guide EA decision making. • Lead the development and execution of a communication and education plan for the enterprise architecture. • Lead enterprise architects and portfolio managers in developing technology road-maps, including effectively evaluating buy/build/borrow decisions. Education and Work Experience: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technologies, or related field, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training • 10+ years of experience with network and infrastructure technologies • Demonstrated experience managing a high performing team of network professionals • Strong understanding of technical troubleshooting methodologies • Ability to facilitate problem-solving among groups with varying needs and priorities, and to communicate well with users, technical staff, and management • Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills across organizational boundaries • Ability to work with a range of technical staff to develop joint solutions Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Has strong customer service skills and staff management experience • Ability to develop and monitor progress of projects, and good project management, team building, and people skills • Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking skills • Excellent communications skills (written, verbal and presentation) • Ability to learn and adapt to new products/technologies quickly • Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products • Experience in controlling information technology budget • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, franchisees, and other departments • Ability to defuse tension among project team, should it arise • Ability to bring project to successful completion through political sensitivity Subject Matter Expertise in most of the following areas: o Technical architecture, network management o Application development, middleware o Database management, Information Architecture o Enterprise architecture frameworks and processes o Knowledge of business re-engineering principles and processes. o Basic knowledge of financial models and budgeting. You should be able to: o Support organizational changes in regard to capability development o Communicate technical decisions to non-technical audiences and build consensus around them o Articulate the value of foundational technology approaches to business executives o Build strong stakeholder relationships and foster interaction at different levels o Estimate the financial impact of EA alternatives. o Apply multiple solutions to business problems. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate clearly, move, and remain in a stationary position. The employee must occasionally transport and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must regularly be able to detect, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, inspect, estimate, observe, and assess items, information, and objects in an office setting.
